The beauty of the language is immersive, and it is a novel I can see being used within schools to talk about race, and travel, and the healing power that humans have for one another.

There are moments of great writing in this book. Peet’s description of a storm building up behind Beck as he walks through wheat fields is something that continues to haunt me.
