Kate Forsyth has a passion for fairytales and her deep knowledge of these tales combined with her writing skills make this book a treasure.

Both Kate Forsyth and Lena Carrington have collaborated before, publishing three previous collections of fairytales. In this book there are seven stories which all feature young men who ‘know that kindness and compassion is the best kind of courage’.

The collection includes fairytales from all over the world including Greece, Wales, Iraq, Ireland and even the Appalachian Mountains. One of my favourites is about Perseus who is tricked into setting out to kill the Gorgon named Medusa. He would bring back her head to save his beautiful mother from the despicable king.

Kate Forsyth has taken these fairytales and woven her own magic into them. Lorena Carrington’s fantastic illustrations lift the book to a whole new level.

Perfectly done.
