Zachary Ying and The Dragon Emperor was an amazing book with funny chapter titles. I really liked how it found ways to add comedy into extremely serious, action-packed fight scenes.
Another thing Xiran Jay Zhao did well was creating a picture in your mind about what the scene would look like, while not giving away a lot so that you could fill in those gaps by yourself. But I believe this book would have benefitted from populating the plot with a wider cast of characters. The book is about a boy named Zachary Ying, who is the great-great-great-etc-grandson of The Dragon Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, who has come back to haunt him. Qin Shi Huang possesses Zach’s super-advanced high-tech glasses, and they go on an adventure to save the world.
