Percy is home, sitting in a spot all of his all own. But he’s not alone. He is the only dog in the household that’s also full of … cats! He chases them and gobbles up their food. There are just too many cats!
One day he decides to leave. He calls to the cats, ‘Adieu, au revoir, adios and goodbye! And you can’t come with me, so don’t even try!’
Thank goodness he’s finally free, trotting out the gate, ‘just my shadow and me’. He won’t miss those cats. When Percy finds the dog park he’s amazed by the fur-dos of the fluffed-up pups, the dainty paws and the ‘strong handsome jaws’. There are balls to chase, grass to roll around in and look at the food that’s fallen out of that bin. No cats to complain here!
When Percy finds a big bone, the other dogs gather around with expectant looks. Percy’s not up for sharing, so a game of chasey starts with Percy leading the pack. This place is not as much fun as he thought it would be. ‘Now there are too many dogs!’
Too Many Dogs is a fun story written in rhyme making it a hoot to read aloud. The illustrations are lively and Percy’s expressions lead you through his emotions. You can’t help but smile at the journey he goes on to discover there’s really no place like home. There’s much pleasure for the littlies to be found in pointing out all the different types of dogs at the park with their funny expressions and the endpapers of the book feature all the cats with their names.
Cat or dog person, you’ll love them both.
