At the start, Birdie and Flick have their first Christmas without their Granny.
They feel sad. So their mum and dad invite the neighbours over to decorate the gingerbread houses.
Baby Birdie got some of the wishing powers from the Imp. So then Baby Birdie could grant wishes. She wishes for the gingerbread people to come alive and become cheeky.
I read this book before I went to bed and one night I asked Mum, ‘Can I read more?’ I found the book easy to read and understand. I like the descriptions in the book. It made me want to make a gingerbread house because I love gingerbread a lot. I wish I had special powers like Birdie.
I liked it so much that I bought book 2!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I write under several pseudonyms. As Allison Rushby, I write junior and Middle Grade fiction. As A.J. Rushby I write Young Adult fiction. And as A. Rushby I write fiction for adults. What do I write about? Well, I write about all sorts of things.
Sometimes it’s bewitched anatomical wax models.
Sometimes it’s tinsel jackets and therapy pom poms.
Sometimes it’s sisters who can wish, wonderfully odd authoress aunts, haunted houses, cursed lockets, doppelgängers and kittens who have tea parties at midnight.
I do all of this fuelled by copious cups of tea.
When I’m not writing, you can find me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
I have two personal assistants, Harry and Titus, who you can follow on Instagram as well.
