Pip loves to go bushwalking with her mum. Her mum walks ahead to make sure it’s safe with Pip bringing up the rear. Sometimes she will see a skink and pick it up, being very careful to make sure she doesn’t harm it. If they are very lucky they might see a snake. Once they saw a red bellied black snake basking in the sun having a snooze on the track ahead. They kept a safe distance. Once the snake realised they were there it slithered off. Another time they accidently gave a snake a fright. It arched up and at its earliest opportunity the scaredy snake slinked away.

This is a good book for any young aspiring bush walker. It enthuses you with the excitement of being in the bush with all its wonders. But also makes it clear how careful you need to be to keep safe from snakes and how they are really just as scared of you as you are of them.

In the back of the book are safety facts and also first aid tips. A great book to read before we pack the food, the water and our first aid kit and head off on our walk!
