Cobweb is set in Great Britain in 1815. After years of battle, the war with Napoleon is coming to an end. Cobweb knows nothing about war – he loves being a young puppy, chasing rabbits and having fun with his owner, Bethan. When Cobweb is taken away and sold, he must learn to be a drover’s dog. He must herd sheep and cattle on the long treacherous journey to London. When the war ends, Cobweb meets an unexpected person with an amazing story on his way home from war. But the only thing Cobweb wants is to find his own home.

I really loved this amazing story, full of bravery, friendship and history. It was interesting to read this story from an animal’s perspective and learn some of the history of the Napoleonic wars. The special connection between a little girl and a puppy reminded me of how special our loved ones are.

Cobweb is about teamwork and never giving up. It gave me that tingling feeling you get when you are reading a really good book. It was easy to imagine what it was like to be Cobweb with only another dog to keep him company along the way. I could imagine how scary that journey would have been for a little doggy!

The thing I liked the most about this story was the friendship between a girl and a puppy. Even though I already LOVE dogs, I feel like I will think differently about how they experience the world now. And I will cuddle my own dog even more!
