One fateful day, hundreds of portals from hell open and start spewing out demons. The story follows Jasper as he struggles to regain his memories after getting amnesia and unravel a plot by the demon’s mysterious leaders to start a doomsday invasion. Jasper works in a convenience store with a hell portal in the ninth aisle.

The blurb on the book didn’t offer a great insight into what the book includes but I found it funny and fast-paced, and it consistently kept my attention. I enjoyed this little journey I went on. I found the characters enjoyable yet flawed (in a great way) and the plot made great sense and was very original.

The comedic timing was also great. I don’t usually read books with a comedy aspect, but this book exceeded my expectations. There are some flaws with it. I found some of the plot twists a little predictable. Also, I felt some of the storyline was written for younger readers, while still having some more mature themes at some points.

This book is Ian X Cho’s debut. It is incredibly good and I am already anticipating whatever the author writes next.
