Did you know that a mummy donkey is called jenny and a mummy kangaroo is called a flyer? Well, this little picture book is all about animal mummies and their babies. Each double page spread has a very lovely illustration of a mummy and a baby – sometimes more than one baby, especially when it comes to a mummy peacock or a mummy pig.

The author, Jennifer Cossins, tells us their special names given to these mummies and babies and just a little about them. My favourite page is the mummy pig page. I am amazed as she sings to her piglets when she feeds them. I’d love to hear that.

This little book will charm you. It’s just the perfect size to read to your new baby while sitting on your lap and would make a lovely present to a new mum in your family.
