This is a exceptionally well-written novel which is the sequel to Claire Zorn’s debut, The Sky So Heavy.
When We Are Invisible continues the tale of Lucy, Fin and Max who are fleeing the city in the midst of a nuclear winter. They have survived the apocalypse and are heading off, following directions to find a safer place. But as they will seaching for a safer place mean they will they come face to face with a more treacherous threat?
The storyline of When We Are Invisible held me quite captivated. I connected with the main character, Lucy, with her feelings and experiences. The book made me feel like I was there with the characters, going along their journey with them. as I shared their roller-coaster of emotions.
I found the thought processes of Lucy intriguing. She is a strong, independent woman. Despite all of her trauma with her sister, she tries to stick it out to the end.
The relationship between Lucy and Fin is adorable. It’s the perfect mix of romance and friendship. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and the little epilogue of Max’s thoughts at the back of the book were humorous and finished the novel off with a nice touch.
Sometimes I was consumed by thoughts about the story which caused my focus to wander, but overall I was highly engaged and found the book very enjoyable to read. I loved it.
If there is a follow-on book for this novel, I would definitely read it!
