Fans of Elvis Presley and his family get a first-hand look into their lives in this posthumous memoir co-written by his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, and his granddaughter, Riley Keough.
The book sheds light on the complicated life of Lisa Marie, including stories of her growing up in Graceland, grieving the death of her father, and navigating life and motherhood after his untimely death.
Lisa Marie shares her special connection to Graceland: ‘Once the gates closed, Graceland was like its own city, its own jurisdiction. My dad was the chief of police, and everybody was ranked. There were few laws and rules, but mostly not. It was freedom.’
In 2022, Lisa Marie asked her daughter, Riley, to help her finish her long-conceived memoir. Sadly, a month later, Lisa Marie was dead. She would never see her story in print.
Luckily, Riley owned the tapes that her mother had recorded for this book, and had the wonderful experience of lying in bed, listening to her mother’s voice. Lisa Marie shares the stories of her wild life at Graceland, of smashing golf carts, the unconditional love she felt from her father. As a child, being dragged kicking and screaming out of the bathroom after finding her father’s lifeless body. About being married to Michael Jackson and what they had in common, her drug addiction and losing the will to live after her son’s death by suicide. Riley remembers a loving mother, who had led a tumultuous life but gave unconditional love.
