Foxlight is a beautiful story filled with adventure, loss, longing for change and a mother.

Fen and Rey are two sisters that were found just outside the ‘lighthouse’ orphanage when they were just babes, curled up with a family of foxes. Their story gives them the idea to believe that if they stay with the foxes, they would find their mother again. As they age, their desperation to find their mother and start a new life grows with each day.

While reading this book I had a roller-coaster of emotions. From the excitement of an escape to the sadness of being lost, this story shows the real struggles that people have, with no added cartoony emotions and actions. One part in particular that made me sad and mad was near the end of the book when Lissa tells them the truth about their abandonment.

This book is fun-filled and a truly delightful story. It was an easy read, perfect for middle school readers.
