Andy King, a locum vet from Melbourne, has travelled to the Victorian country town of Taplin as a favour to a friend. Just four weeks helping at the veterinary clinic and then she’ll be gone, back to the city and her safe life.
Taplin is a little too close to Stonefield, the neighbouring town where she grew up, a town she was forced to flee with her father 10 years ago. She was suspected of murdering her boyfriend, Will Hoffman.
Andy has carried some dark secrets ever since, secrets that can never be revealed. She knows it is a huge mistake to be so close to the threat Stonefield still holds for her but has convinced herself that if she keeps her head down that maybe no-one will remember her name from that time. Andy knows that she would never be able to live in Taplin but the town, its people and their animals get under her skin.
The people of Taplin are friendly and treat her with respect. Especially the handsome Ethan Landers. But there are dangers to be found at the beautiful Chasm Falls, where a tragedy 10 years before comes back to haunt Andy, threatening those who she has feelings for. She finds herself in a heart-pumping race to save herself and those caught up in the dangerous threat from Stonefield that she had hoped she had left in her past.
Set in the stunning scenery of rural, mountainous Victoria, The Chasm is a well-paced thriller with a satisfying dash of romance.
