Louisa Clark has moved from London to New York and works as personal assistant to wealthy Mrs Gopnik. She steps into a world of what appears to be the best that money can buy. But despite all their wealth, none of the Gopniks seem happy.
Agnes, Leonard Gopnik’s second wife, is under attack from Leonard’s daughter and ex-wife.
Louisa’s role quickly changes to one of friend and ally. Louisa is also trying to keep a long-distance relationship with new boyfriend, Sam, going. This is the first relationship she has had since the death of her last partner, Will. When Will’s doppelganger Josh enters Louisa’s circle, loneliness makes it hard to resist his advances.
A trip home brings things with Sam to a head, and Louisa is forced to start making some tough decisions.
Working long hours and unsure of her relationship means Louisa is often lonely, but she manages to create a small network of friends.
When things go wrong with the Gopniks, it becomes clear who she can rely on.
Still Me begins with the quote ‘Know first, who you are; and then adorn yourself accordingly’. And this is the message at the centre of the book.
Fans of Jojo Moyes will know this is the third Louisa Clark book, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone and thoroughly enjoyed.
