ABOUT THE BOOK

One Knight Stand Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner book cover.jpgSaddle up your dragons: We’re going on a road trip!

Gwen and Isobelle’s happily ever after in Darkhaven has hit a few speed bumps: Isobelle can’t access her dowry, Gwen’s meeting a mixed reception among the other knights, and the question of ‘what next?’ is looming large. If they’re going to avoid focusing on these minor issues, they need a distraction, and fast. And you know where is lovely this time of year? The seaside. Never mind that it’s midwinter. Also, never mind the sea monster …

Something readers might be surprised to learn about our writing process is… that we’ve written nine books (plus a bunch of short stories) together, and never had a fight!

One unexpected thing about this medieval world is… probably the sea monster.

We know it’s a good writing day when… we can make the other one laugh out loud at a joke we’ve slipped into the book.

Our favourite romance trope will always be… you can’t make us finish this sentence with just one! Slow burn, yearning, only one barn, opposites attract… we have a list!

Lady's Knight Book CoverSomething that inspired One Knight Stand is… wondering what comes after the triumphant finale to the quest. What do you do a week later, or a month later, when the adrenaline wears off, and you still don’t have access to your dowry?

The kind of story we keep returning to is… the sort that explores what we can do together. We’re less interested in a lone hero saving a damsel in distress, and more interested in what happens when they team up.

If we had to survive in this story, we would… stay at the inn and avoid the sea monster at all costs. Did you know they just invented In Roome Service?

The biggest challenge Gwen and Isobelle don’t see coming is… communication. Really just talking about what’s on their minds. It’s hard to be vulnerable! Harder than fighting a dragon, it turns out.
