James can fly. Well, kind of. His landings leave something to be desired and he maybe hasn’t quite worked his supposed superpowers out just yet because he spends more time crashing into dams than cruising the air currents. But hey, even Superman had to start somewhere, right? But after James collides with a mysterious city in the sky he finds himself drawn into a desperate race against time – and a shady organisation of criminals and spies – to locate a piece of stolen technology designed to protect the world from the devastating effects of climate change. If he can’t, millions of lives will be at stake.
This really is such an entertaining and action-packed read. Set against a backdrop of the rural Australian landscape and the city streets of Adelaide, it is a compelling and surprisingly complex narrative, rich with so many intriguing science fiction elements and a refreshingly unique voice that keeps you turning the page desperate to find out how things will unfold. The main characters are delightfully genuine and relatable and always strong-willed and determined. It is really awesome to see an Aboriginal teen taking centre stage, becoming the superhero of his own story, finding his own way and discovering who he is and saving the world in the process.
Wraith was so impossible to put down and beautifully written. It is completely unique, something I have never read of before, each fantastic new idea plunging you deeper into a great adventure!
