On the front cover of this book it says, ‘Funny stories to make you feel good from some of your favourite Aussie authors.’ And that’s just what they are. There are laugh-out-loud short stories from such well-known authors as Tristan Bancks, Jacqueline Harvey, Paul Jennings, Oliver Phommavanh and one from 11-year-old budding author Ella Wallace, who wrote, ‘Who Blocked Up the Dunny?’

I enjoyed Jacqueline Harvey’s ‘Pet Sit Pandemonium: Operation Snowball’. This really turns out to be the most hilarious pandemonium when Tom is left to look after Mrs Oldbag’s pets, Pavarotti the bird and Puss, the black cat. It would have been easy peasy except for a visit from Snowball, the cat from next door who’s as big as a snow leopard!

Paul Jenning’s ‘A Mouthful’ from his book Uncovered is disgusting enough for all young fans to enjoy, especially when Dad eats dog poo. But my favourite is the first story, ‘How to be a Superhero’ by Deborah Abela. Eight-year-old Arabelle Von Champion (who was born Ann Small but renamed herself, as how could there be a superhero with a name like that?) has decided to launch herself from the garage roof onto the Hills hoist which would then spin her around to the pool in which she could gracefully drop. Yes, you can imagine how it all went wrong, can’t you?

The authors who have written these funny stories and the very talented artist, James Foley, have donated their work so all royalties from sales of this book will go to Dymocks Children’s Charities. Another reason to buy a copy of this book and keep everyone laughing.
