Olaf Falafel is an author, illustrator and a stand-up comedian. (Makes total sense, really.) In his latest graphic novel, Olaf brings us a madcap team of shapeshifting adventurers.
A group of everyday kids have their world turned upside down when The Great Waldini, a grumpy amateur magician, transforms them into Spewnicorn (a unicorn who spews rainbows), Tubbs (a caring bathtub), Bloof (a birdlike creature) and Glossy Jeff (cool in a crisis). The Far-out Five go on a wild adventure to Snot Jelly Island where people are being turned into wobbly green statues of semi-viscous nasal mucus. (Better known as snot.)
This graphic novel is relentless! Teamwork, cooperation and problem-solving are punctuated with regular and prolific jokes about poo, wee, butts, vomit, Greek mythology and the periodic table. Each page brings new twists and turns, supporting characters, preposterous situations, much hilarity and easy laughs.
The Far-out Five: Snot Jelly Island is unhinged and hilarious.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Olaf Falafel is an author, illustrator and a stand-up comedian (which is pretty similar to a stand-up chameleon except he doesn’t change colour to blend in with the background). He’s the winner of The Funniest Joke of the Edinburgh Fringe and has created and performed several stupidly named comedy shows including Olaf Falafel and the Cheese Of Truth.
As well as trying to make people laugh on stage, Olaf draws a lot and tries to come up with funny ideas for kids books. He also has an Art Club on Youtube full of real drawing tips and facts about famous artists. In 2019 Olaf visited 100 schools in 100 days – and then put his feet up and had a cup of tea.
