Timmy the famous Shetland pony has everything he wants: fame, a mansion, servants, adoring fans … even his very own stalker! However, he hasn’t yet been in a movie and he hasn’t yet met the love of his life: Saffron Horse-Blankette. He’s sure that once she’s actually seen him, she’ll fall madly in love with him. After all, Timmy is convinced that everyone loves him. Everyone, except Tony the Show Pony. Tony is Timmy’s arch-nemesis. When they get to star in a movie together, Tony does everything he can to spoil things for Timmy. However, the real obstacle to Timmy’s success is much closer to home.
Rankine’s illustrations are a lot of fun and help the story come to life. Timmy finds himself in some very awkward situations, which are highly entertaining. There’s only one problem: he’s just not likeable. When he gets into bother, the reader can’t help thinking that he deserves some of the trouble. In fact, he’s probably the cause of most of his difficulties. The most sympathetic character in the story is Lorraine, the stalker! Hopefully, in the next instalment, Timmy gains some humility and sensitivity.
