The Book of Chance follows the story of Chance Callahan who lives her life like any other down in The Gong (that is, Wollongong). Chance has an unfaltering relationship with her mother, Nadia, and wants to give something back to her. With the help of her trusty neighbour, Missy-D, Chance decides to go onto a home renovation show called I Just Wanted to Say Thank You where they remodel the house of someone special in your life.

When her mother comes back home she is astounded, and falls in love with her newly renovated home, but becomes anxious when she realises that some of the furniture has been moved. This is the first thing that triggers Chance’s suspicion. When she accidentally uncovers a secret that her mother has kept from her, her life changes forever.

Although I felt as though it could have been tied slightly better together, and the book also started with one of the final chapters, which was confusing, it was a highly enjoyable read. There is a new mystery on every page and the story fits together like a puzzle with one missing piece that’s holding the story together. I would definitely read a potential sequel.
