The year of 2020 was a time when all our worlds changed. It was also the year when Yotam Ottolenghi and Noor Murad recognised there was a real need to teach home cooks how to ‘roll with the punches’ and learn to improvise with what was readily available in their own kitchens.
The first ‘Ottolenghi Test Kitchen’ cookbook, Shelf Love, will show you how to work with the ingredients you have and teach you all the skills you need to utilise whatever is in your kitchen to put together a delicious meal with an Ottolenghi flourish.
I love this concept. Anything that will show me how to do justice to those few abandoned vegetables in the fridge (and by justice I don’t mean throw them away); or what to do with that packet of frozen vegetables in my freezer that normally comes out when someone sprains an ankle; or what to do with that can of chickpeas in my pantry which hopefully has not gone out of date.
Using humble ingredients, largely found in most people’s kitchens to create exciting, irresistible recipes will revolutionise our worlds. On that basis alone, you should buy this small, beautifully produced and practical book!
