Earth’s Aquarium is one of those beautifully illustrated oversized books that you could drool over all day. Each of the double-page illustrations show us a different aquatic environment in our wonderful world of water: Mudflats in the Wadden Sea in Northern Europe; Mangrove Forest in Thailand; Seagrass Meadows in Egypt; Tyrrhenian Sea in Italy where the seafloor is two kilometres deep; and even the underwater metropolis of our Great Barrier Reef.

There are 15 real-life water worlds in this book, each with a double-page spread of sumptuously painted sea life that live in their particular waters, followed by a page of separate drawings of each of these animals accompanied by fascinating information about them.

Every page in this book is a work of art. I’ve learnt so much more than I knew before and appreciate how important our aquatic environments are to us all. I do have just one problem though. The information running along the bottom or top of each double page spread is in very small type which could be difficult for very young children to read. Nevertheless, it would be wonderful if all children could have this book in their hands and understand how important it is to look after our water world.
