Mr Clownfish and Miss Anemone are the best of friends. If a big fish swims along and wants to eat Mr Clownfish he hides in Miss Anemone’s stinging tentacles. They don’t hurt him but will sting the big fish.
Miss Anemone is looked after by Mr Clownfish too. If an anemone eating fish comes to close, Mr Clownfish becomes VERY FEROCIOUS! He’s Miss Anemone’s hero.
Mr Clownfish tidies up Miss Anemones tentacles twice a day and they both eat yummy sea morsels together.
But some days there are not enough morsels to fill them up so Mr Clownfish has to swim off and find some. Miss Anemone can’t move as she has no fins or legs But Mr Clownfish always brings back enough for both of them to enjoy.
It’s Mis Anemone’s birthday and Mr Clownfish has brought her a special present. A beautiful big shell. She loves it and he is so happy heads off to find them both a feast to celebrate.
While Mr Clownfish is out foraging for dinner Miss Anemone notices her new shell present has got big legs.
When Mr Clownfish comes back, Miss Anemone is gone. What has happened? He is sure she has been KIDNAPPED!
This is a great story. It’s a fun underwater adventure which highlights the relationship between these two sea creatures. The illustrations are fabulous giving Mr Clownfish and Miss Anemone life and humour. The joyful ending leaves you on an up.

Sean E Avery is a teacher, writer-illustrator, sculptor and designer born in South Africa; living in Perth, Western Australia. Locally, he’s best known as the writer-illustrator of best-selling children’s picture book, All Monkeys Love Bananas.
His picture book, Happy as a Hog Out of Mud, won the 2022 WAYRBA Picture Book of the Year Award and his last book, Frank’s Red Hat, won the the 2023 CBCA Shadow Judges Picture Book of the Year award and was shortlisted for the 2023 Indie, WAYRBA and CBCA Picture Book of the Year Award. It has been translated into French, Korean, German and Danish. Sean’s new graphic novel, Friendly Bee and Friends, is out now.
Internationally, he’s best known as a sculptor who uses CDs and DVDs to create breathtaking works of art that reside in galleries and private collections all around the world. He is curious, enthusiastic and ready to work hard for the things he believes in.
