Marnie Fairchild is the owner of Wish & Co. Her talents lie in offering a bespoke gift-buying service to her customers. One of Marnie’s best customers, Brian Charlesworth, is getting her to wrap an anniversary gift for his wife, as well as a present for his mistress. Marnie soon finds herself making a terrible mistake with Brian, his wife and his mistress as she juggles keeping her business alive. If that wasn’t enough, she begins to fall for Brian’s son.
With Love From Wish & Co is a perfectly balanced romantic comedy that has the right amount of romance, humour and character development. The romance is a delightful part of the story, but it is not the focus of the entire book. What really connects you to the story is the fantastic characterisation. Minnie Darke crafts well-layered, fun and interesting characters. No-one feels like a wasted character. Darke’s clever plotting intertwines each individual story strand together in a way that creates a cohesive narrative, but still allows for the characters to breathe and develop.
This is a charming, heart-warming and funny read that is guaranteed to leave you smiling. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with these characters the way I did. When you find yourself unable to put a book down because you can’t wait to read about the people in it, that’s how you know you’ve found a gem. A perfect read if you are looking for something light, fun and easy to give you all those warm and fuzzy feelings.
