Camilla has always been the good sister: the one with the stable job, husband, kids and organised approach to life. Younger sister, Susie, is more flighty, never settling down with a steady job or relationship.

But now Susie is dead, falling from a ladder while stringing up lights for her 40th birthday. And she has left Camilla a bunch of letters. The letters are not like Susie; they are carefully numbered, ordered and instructed to be read only in the event of her death. The letters are also to be read in various places around the globe: London, an island in France, a cottage in Devon and their family home in the Kimberley.

Camilla has never been able to say no to her sister, so she heads to London. She thinks this is another of Susie’s crazy, dramatic requests. But as she follows the trail, Camilla uncovers more questions than answers.

Weaving back and forth in time, switching between Susie and Camilla, this story offers a twisty mystery that also explores families, secrets, and how they can shape who we become and the choices we make.
