Netflix has released the trailer for Blonde based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2000 novel of the same name. The book which provides a moving portrait of Marilyn Monroe.
The novel gives the reader an intimate look at the life of Norma Jean Baker and the events that shaped her into a cultural icon of the 20th century. From her fractured personal relationships to her own struggle with identity.
The film is scheduled for release on Netflix on 23 September. Ana de Armas stars in the movie as Marilyn Monroe. Andrew Dominik (Killing Them Softly) is directing the film, and Oates has given her approval, saying: ‘Andrew Dominik is a very brilliant director. I think he succeeded in showing the experience of Norma Jean Baker from her perspective. Rather than see it from the outside, the male gaze looking at a woman. He immersed himself in her perspective.’
