JORDAN GOULD and RITCHARD PRTICHARD’s book Protectors: Wylah the Koorie Warrior 3 is the third instalment in the ‘Wylah the Koorie Warrior’ series and is a heart-stopping adventure, starring a hero for the ages and her mega-funny megafauna friends.

We caught up with the authors to ask about what challenges Wylah will face in this book.

Wylah is back in your latest book, Protectors: Wylah the Koorie Warrior 3. What’s new for her since the last book?

Wylah has finally been able to call on her ancestors and turn Kae Kae blue with power. Now, as the fully-fledged Koorie Warrior, she must confront the dragon army face-to-face in a thrilling battle to rescue her family and animals.

What challenges will Wylah face as a Koorie warrior?

Wylah not only has to free her people but also the bare responsibility of becoming the Koorie Warrior and protecting all those across the lands who seek her help just like her grandmother before her.

What can you tell us about the Dragon Army?

The Dragon Army is a mysterious group of invaders sweeping across the lands. Wylah knows little about them or the vast world beyond her village. This fearsome army is capturing people and animals to work in their mines, searching for gold. Their powerful Alchemists are also experimenting with the Guardian’s spiritual power. However, a dark secret is revealed that can threaten the Army’s control over the Dragons.

What was your favourite part of creating this book?

I really enjoyed every part of the process. But my favourite part was seeing the final book with all the writing and drawings.

What are some of the most important lessons Wylah will learn in this latest book?

Wylah will learn to be still, to sit and be with her own thoughts, and her own mind. As Wylah takes on the tremendous responsibility of being the Koorie Warrior, she learns to control her emotions and keep the fire burning in her heart.

Who are some of the new characters readers will be introduced to?

We have some very exciting new characters coming in, Pirreen Elder of the Spider Tribe, Kaltukkrar Elder of the Penguin Tribe, Minree daughter of the Cod River Tribe. Last but not least we have a new formidable enemy, Annabel, daughter of Livingstone and the Protectorate of the Dragon Kingdom.
