In 2021, bestselling author Sarah J Maas announced that her popular fantasy series ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ (ACOTAR) would be adapted into a live-action TV show on Hulu.

The series follows the story of 19 year old huntress Feyre Archeron who is taken prisoner by her captor Tamlin into the mystical faerie lands of Prythian after she accidentally kills a faerie. While living on Tamlin’s estate, her feelings for him transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae.
In 2021, Maas stated that Ron Moore (creator of Outlander) would co-adapt A Court Of Thorns And Roses with her.
As of now, there is still little information released about the series, so it’s unclear when it will premiere. Additionally, the recent SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes have likely delayed the series further.
However, the show is still likely in development. Craig Erwich, President of Hulu Originals & ABC Entertainment stating in 2023: ‘The books are a great roadmap for what I think will be a very successful series. I haven’t read the material yet, although I’m very aware of a lot of the conversations going on with the show … Ron is truly one of the visionaries of that genre.’
