Here are five book to screen adaptations that are coming out soon!


My Life with the Walter Boys

This series is an adaptation of Ali Novak’s 2014 novel of the same name. It will premiere on Netflix on 7 December 2023.

Family Switch

This body-switching film is based on the book Bedtime for Mommy by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. It will premiere on Netflix on 30 November 2023.

The Boy and the Heron

This animated fantasy film is written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The Japanese title references Genzaburō Yoshino’s 1937 novel of the same name. The film however has is not connected to the book, and is instead loosely based on The Book of Lost Things by Irish writer John Connolly. It’s in cinemas 7 December 2023.


This is a musical fantasy prequel that looks at the popular character from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It’s in cinemas 14 December 2023.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes
This is a dystopian action film based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. It is a prequel to the ‘The Hunger Games‘ trilogy. It’s in cinemas 16 November.
