ABOUT THE BOOK

Mia megastar by Ada NicodemouMeet Mia!

Her life is pretty interesting and amazing. She’s the only kid in her class who lives above a shop. And not just any shop – everyone knows Costa’s is the best place for groceries and the yummiest pastries. She has a cute-but-annoying little brother, Yianni, and the best friends ever. Oh, and her mum plays the worstpranks. Mia loves dancing and singing and is always putting on a show. And she’s ready to step into the limelight . . . this year will see Mia get closer to her dream of becoming a megastar.

But the road to stardom is not without a little drama. . .

Now meet the author, Ada Nicodemou!

Ada Nicodemou, actor and authorWhat sparked the idea for Mia Megastar?

I wanted to write a story that inspired young girls to follow their dreams, especially if they had a passion for performing, and also write a book about family, culture, friendship and kindness. Mia’s story is also loosely based on my upbringing too.

What can you tell us about Mia and her family and friends?

Mia comes from a large Greek family, her mum loves to cook and love play practical jokes, her dad is supportive and loves her very much and she has a little brother who she adores! She has 2 best friends, Ted who loves playing football, and Brina.

Mia dreams of stardom – what inspired her character?

Mia is based on my life growing up, I always loved performing and putting on a show. In high school our English teacher took us on a school excursion to see a play, it was my first time. From that moment on in knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

What was your favourite part of writing this book?

I loved every part of the creative process, loved collaborating with my editor and Meredith and bring Mia’s world to life. It was also nice to think back to my childhood and be reminded of all those funny stories I’d forgotten.

What advice would you give to readers who want to become actors?

Follow your dreams! Get together with your friends, start a drama club, put on shows, go to the theatre, learn as much as you can.

Describe this book in three words

Inspiring, funny, heartwarming
