John Steinbeck’s werewolf novel

Nov 2022

Years before finding fame with The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men, American writer John Steinbeck wrote a werewolf mystery novel.

While still a struggling writer Steinbeck wrote Murder at Full Moon, under a pseudonym.

After being rejected in 1930 Steinbeck archived the manuscript, and it remained unseen until it was unearthed from the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas.

Despite calls to release it, Steinbeck’s literary agents have said they won’t publish the novel, as Steinbeck didn’t wish to have it published even after making a name for himself.
