Hilary Mantel, the Booker Prize winning author of the ‘Wolf Hall’ trilogy, has died at the age of 70.
Mantel’s beloved novel, Wolf Hall, was published in 2009, and its sequel Bring Up the Bodies, was published in 2012. Both books won the Booker Prize. The final book in the series, The Mirror & the Light, was published in 2020 and was longlisted for the Booker Prize.
Her trilogy has sold over five million copies worldwide and has been translated into 41 languages.
In a statement her publisher 4th Estate Books wrote, ‘It is with great sadness that HarperCollins announces that bestselling author Dame Hilary Mantel DBE died peacefully, surrounded by close family and friends, yesterday.’
