Our weary eyes soon drift to sleep,
with heavy heads our thoughts fall deep …
to dream of days when we can be…
… the children that are wild and free.
Off our children go to play. Adventures lie ahead! They breathe in life and climb every tree with a leap in the mud, ‘then STOMP and ROAR and thud, thus, THUD!’ There are forts to be built, imaginary escapes to be made, hills to roll down and bare feet in streams.
This book oozes life and brings the excitement and adventures that wait just outside the door. But there’s also the love of coming home to your mother’s arms, a warm bath and curling up in bed with dreams full of what has been. We can look forward to doing it all over again.
Wild and Free is rich in inspiration and pure and simple happiness. It’s what we hope all children can experience and remember.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Greetings from my rustic home and garden here in country South Australia. Today, the chooks are out for a stroll, fruit trees are blossoming, and birds are nesting in the jacaranda tree. I love being in my garden and nature inspires me every day. I write a lot about the things I see and experience.
When I am not in my garden, I am in my classroom teaching children in their first year of school. I love that I get to see them learn, inspire and grow. Books are so important in early childhood and reading aloud has so many positive outcomes. I hope you enjoy my stories and that you share a book with a little person today!

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
I grew up in a small fishing village on the Baltic Sea in Germany. Here you could find me mostly galloping through the forests with flying piggy tails on my Shetland pony, drawing or reading.
These days I am an illustrator and I live in Australia.
My illustrations are a mixture of digital and traditional media. With a passion for colour and textures I aim to create happy images to evoke emotion and thought in young and old minds alike.
My works are inspired by nature, people, places, and the moving and silly things I see… Magic is everywhere!
