Throne of the Fallen is the debut adult novel from fantasy author Kerri Maniscalco and it is an action-packed ride. Filled with deceit, magic and romance, it was a struggle to put down.

Camilla Antonius is an artist being blackmailed into creating forged artworks. In a society where a woman’s reputation is everything, she cannot risk the scandal that will result if she refuses. When the Prince of Envy requests that she paint a specific object for him, the two enter into a bargain that leads to buried secrets and desires being revealed. This spicy romantasy novel takes readers on a journey through the underworld with demons, vampires, riddles and more.

Throne of the Fallen is a seductive and steamy tale. There is plenty of action and magic and the crackling slow burn romance between the two main characters is seductive and passionate. The Demon Princes of Hell are all intriguing characters and I loved that the story is laced with mythological references. Some of the expectations of this hellish realm are turned on their head and I enjoyed that nothing was quite as expected.

There are plenty of surprises and twists as Camilla and Envy take their perilous journey in order to complete the deadly high stakes game that they have been drawn into and I was kept guessing throughout the gripping story.

This is a wicked stand-alone novel that will appeal to readers of both spicy open-door romance and fantasy. A great page-turner that had me entranced.
