Sweet, swoon-worthy and completely captivating, Duck à l’Orange For Breakfast is a mesmerising romance story about opening up to love and chasing your dreams.

Max is an aspiring writer who has not only just been dumped by her long-term boyfriend, but has also been diagnosed with a brain tumour. It’s not long before she turns to Tinder as a way to cope. She matches with Johnny, who becomes her online penpal. Their friendship grows as they cook their way through The Laurent Family Cookbook, a recipe book from Max’s ex-boyfriend’s pretentious family. And over time, they develop a stronger connection.

After Max’s brain surgery, she travels to Paris for a fresh start. She must decide if she is ready to go after what she truly wants in life and love. The online friendship between Max and Johnny provides plenty of moments for tension and chemistry through their online flirtations. The fact that they hadn’t met in person made the pacing of the romance even better.

You can now add reading this book to your list of feel-good escapes. It’s a page-turner, layered with depth, emotion and is incredibly touching. It’s escapism, with a terrific premise, witty flirtation between its two love interests, and food to make your mouth water.

By the time I turned the final page, I was left with the biggest smile on my face and a lot of emotion in my heart.
