This book is about a boy who watches movies and has moved from school to school. He doesn’t live with his family, but his grandma and grandpa visit and take him camping. They teach him about Galliyah the Great Emu and the Rainbow Serpent. The trip inspires him to write the story of Maku, the witchetty grub ranger.

I would recommend this book to Year 2 to Year 3 students because it is funny, interesting and it has good pictures.

This book would interest people who would like to learn about Indigenous Australians and their Dreamtime stories.
