This is a story taking place all over the world, even as you read this book. It’s a story that could be happening near you, in a park, or even in your own backyard. If you have a close look at the underneath part of some of your leaves that are growing close to the ground, if you’re lucky, you might find one with a tiny white dot.

In our story, that little white dot is an egg, a miraculous egg which will hatch out to a very small caterpillar. His name is Blue. But how does a little caterpillar survive in this big world with so many other animals waiting to eat him? Here is the answer. Ants. They become Blue’s protectors.

You will be amazed, as I am, how well Blue is looked after. And in return, Blue makes honey for them to eat. We also learn how he makes his chrysalis with all of his cells turning into goo, which is like a lovely nutritious soup!

Every page in this book is full of beautifully coloured illustrations and the stories are so incredible, about the relationships between plants, butterflies and ants.

I can’t speak too highly of this picture book, which is for all ages to fall in love with and be amazed at the wonder of all living things.
