Noni the Pony stands under one tree and watches her two friends dance by the sea.
She gives three speckled hens a ride up the hill. Then races four laughing cows down to the mill.
What a great life Noni has! Living by the sea and so busy with her friends. And it’s so much fun if you’re one of those speckled hens riding on her back. She has five wallaby friends too and six dusky wood swallows and even seven little fat puppies who visit her.
As you’ve probably noticed there’s a counting theme in this little picture book. Just up to ten at first but then we learn bigger words that we can use when counting spots or dots or even the stars.
If you’ve met Noni the Pony before, then you’ll know what a treat awaits you and your little ones. Alison Lester tells this story as always in simple but delightful rhyme, where all her animals come alive with her lovely gentle paintings making it all so real.
Another classic from this much-loved author.
