Kaya, already suffering from PTSD, is woken in the night by her mother. Her father is dead and they must flee for their lives. They hide out in a cabin in the Blue Mountains and Kaya’s mother warns her not to speak to people or get close to anyone, in case they are discovered. However, when Kaya has a minor car accident, things get complicated. The person she nearly ran over is determined to befriend her. Then she discovers that her mother has a male friend in the area, who knows a lot about Kaya. Why can’t she remember him? Things aren’t adding up. If only Kaya could recover her memory about the events that triggered all of this.
This is an absorbing mystery that keeps the reader intrigued as Kaya discovers that sometimes it’s difficult to work out who is a real friend and who is an enemy.
