This is the incredible true story of Tutankhamun, a little boy about nine years of age who became a much-loved king of Egypt. Owing to his young age, and because there were no other members of the royal family alive, Tutankhamun was given a friend of the family as his guardian. A little later it was decided that Tutankhamun should marry, and his half-sister, Ankhesenamun, would be his Great Royal Wife. It seemed to be a very loving relationship, but it wasn’t to last long. Tutankhamun was dead by the age of 18 or 19.
More than 3000 years later in England another boy, Howard Carter, was growing up with a fascination for all things Egyptian. As an adult he worked in the Valley of Kings, excavating burial places of the pharaohs. He desperately wanted to find Tutankhanum’s tomb and on 4 November 1922 he discovered the top of a sunken staircase leading to a blocked doorway. Would this lead to Tutankhamun’s tomb?
This stunning book, with its sumptuous illustrations on every page, will draw you in and bring the mysterious story of Tutankhamun to life. It will fascinate all children and adults who have ever wanted to visit Egypt and sail down the Nile.
