Upon opening The Liver Repair Plan I was immediately impressed and inspired. Sarah di Lorenzo is a Clinical Nutritionist and clearly good at what she does.

The book is broken into three substantial parts.

The first is a lesson on the liver’s different parts, its functions, what diseases can affect it and importantly what risk factors we can change. There are clear illustrations to help us grasp all this fascinating information.

The second part is about cleansing/detoxifying your liver. What harms our liver, how we can change our diet to support it, what are the best foods to eat, how we can help heal our liver and the principles of Di Lorenzo’s repair plan. Again, there is much to learn here.

The final part is the four-week liver repair plan which is clearly explained. We’re provided with suggested different foods to eat at each meal followed by recipes. Many of the recipes are quite simple, from smoothies to a honey sesame chicken lunch bowl or beetroot and oat muffins.

There are no surprises that healthy food, exercise and laying off excessive alcohol is needed. Of course, my weakness, sugar, is a no go. Bonus is, coffee gets the tick. Di Lorenzo is very pragmatic, understanding that we’re not all perfect, so encourages us to do our best.

Her writing style is welcoming, friendly and supportive. This really is a very well-produced book. It’s exceedingly well laid out, making it appealing to look at and so engaging that you feel quite excited about participating in the plan, healthy liver or not!
